Cosmetic Dentistry

Healthy looking and beautiful teeth are everybody´s desire. Perfectly shaped white teeth are not just the prominent hallmark of a youthful and vigorous condition. This manifestation befits the criteria of the present-day image-oriented society as well. Particularly, these aspects represent a prerequisite for positions in such profession fields which require an interactive communication with people.

There are individuals whose genetic endowment takes credit for the healthy, strong and natural-looking teeth they have. The majority of us is far from that fortunate. This is what lends such an immense weight to the role of today´s Cosmetic Dentistry. At the Schill Dental Clinic, we know how to come to the aid of Mother Nature.

Teeth Whitening

In general, white is identified as the colour ideally associated with healthy teeth. In reality, however, the common factors of day-to-day life have preponsity for what results as tainted teeth. Drinking of coffee, tea and red wine or eating bitter chocolate are the typical offenders. The combination of these adverse effects over an extended time span leads to changes of the enamel colour.

Like any other intervention, the teeth whitening process is preceded by a dental check-up and a professional tooth cleaning. In the dental bleaching process, the colour of natural teeth is lightened up. The success of this procedure is contingent on a number of factors and requires a competent counsel from the dentist well ahead of the treatment.

Besides Teeth Whitening, yet another cosmetic dentistry procedure that directs at correction of teeth (their position and shape). Treatments of this kind use ceramic veneers for correction of front teeth primarily. The desirable tooth shape is achieved by way of composite materials. These help to rectify congenital tooth growth anomalies or accidental injuries alternatively.

Inlay, onlay

The use of ceramic inlays or onlays in colour identical with the natural tooth stands in the front rank of the ultimate methods in the field of dental fillings.

They meet with good use mostly as restorations of partial tooth damage (fracture, chipping, extensive diseased hollow etc). This suggests they are meant as solution to defects too extensive for a filling. The so-called „onlay system“ comes with noteworthy properties. Advocated for use in mostly posterior teeth, its ceramic onlay version enjoys a great popularity. Only so much is removed from the tooth as necessary which implies it is a very considerate method. The next stages following the treatment are different, though. The contemporary techniques make it possible to use the computer-aided fabrication of a tooth „filling“ within but a few minutes. Later on, the onlay is bonded onto the tooth and receives final trimming if required. The partial restoration completed in this way has excellent mechanical properties, it is durable and indiscernible from the natural tooth.

Crowns are fabricated to resolve major dental loss issues that rule out the use of composite restorations, inlays or onlays. Dental crowns are bonded to teeth trimmed down at the preparatory stage. They are the alternative in addressing conditions marked by a mechanical tooth damage in accidents. Another convenient use is protection of weakened teeth or low amount of remaining natural tooth´s structures.

In situations of a missing tooth, the resulting gap is filled with the so-called „bridge“ that is anchored to the adjacent teeth. The disadvantage related to the dental bridge solution comes with the preparatory trimming of adjacent teeth the bonding must be preceded by. Some of such teeth may be healthy before damaged in the process.

A variety of materials is used in the crown fabrication: metal, resins, ceramic or the combination of metal and ceramic – metal-fused-ceramic crowns. The choice of a specific type of crown observes the type, shape and position of the tooth to be treated and, no less importantly, the crown recipient´s budget limits. All ceramic crowns are made from a specially hardened ceramic material. Their hardness values are anywhere close to those of metals. Notwithstanding that they restore the tooth into a highly appealing and naturally looking condition.
